The Atlas Underground created a gala that was exceedingly sumptuous from the beautiful decor to the fascinating and varied entertainment!
The Chihuly exhibit was truly breathtaking. We could have stayed in it for hours. The layout was perfectly balanced and seamless. Walking through this exhibit was like falling asleep and getting to walk through a dream world. (Make sure to check back on Friday and read our post about their current Hollywood costume exhibit!)
The Choral Arts Society proved that choral music can be approachable, entertaining and fun. What a talented group! Partnering with the fanstatic Brian Stokes Mitchell in some truly memorable numbers and Mitchell’s own solo work created a stunning and memorable performance.
In The Heights had energy, attittude and heart. The cast well performed the exuberant show creating a very special evening for the audience.
Sophiscated, arresting and authentic are only of the words that can be used to descibe The Last Five Years. Erin Weaver and James Gardiner perform with such honesty and energy that you can’t help but fall in love with their characters.
Spin is a delightful show with great pop music and a warm, touching story that’s well seasoned with a dash of wit and sass. “Click”, “I Have a Gift” and other songs are still being hummed in this house!
Maurice Hines can sing, dance and tell a story better than most. His fascinating life creates the perfect backdrop for him to excel in three different performance disclipnes.
From the first moments Love in Afghanistan quietly commands your attention in telling a beautiful, unconventional love story. We’re still talking about things we learned from watching this play, even months later.
The best comedies often contain elements of a serious nature and Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner deftly combined elements of comedy and tragedy to make a show that was not just funny, but also made you think.
Septime Webre’s Giselle was a very romantic and elegant take on ballet’s favorite ghost story. This ballet was a pure joy to watch and Maki Onuki was a dazzlingly beautiful and heartbreaking Giselle.
Doc, Chou Chou and everyone else who comprises the Imperial Palms Orchestra from musicans to the Girlfriends are amazingly talented! They performed the best live show that we’ve ever seen in DC and one of the best we’ve ever seen over all!
It may have been a “small” summer replacement series. ( How is 5 million a small audience?) But, this show was a lot of fun and we even learned more culinary trivia and skills by watching it.
It had good music, a great message and actually wasn’t too cheesy!
Best Thing that Happened to Us in 2013 and one of the best things that ever happened to us- Taylor Truth Rothstein. I (Kari) was blessed to carry her every minute of her life and our lives will be forever blessed by her brief existence.
2013 had a lot of fabulous things in it and we can’t wait to see what 2014 holds!
