Best of the Best 2015
2015 was such an exciting year for us because it was our first year with sweet Baby G! But, that wasn’t the only reason it was exciting. We also had so much fun with a variety of food, shows and all sorts of events. We’ve already shared our top picks in fashion , music , books and now here’s a list of the best of everything from 2015, our Best of the Best! (You can read more about each post by clicking on the title.)
Nothing beats hearing a choir sing live and the Choral Arts Society is hands-down the best choral ensemble in the DMV. A Family Christmas was truly a treat, a sugar-snow, jubilant holiday delight.
Whether it was learning from Chef Michael Symon how to spatchcock a chicken or indulging in the delectable Grand Tasting Pavilion everything about MetroCooking DC was a foodie’s dream.
The group numbers, especially the Gershwin opening number were magnificent. The collection of skaters on Stars on Ice tours is always impressive this year including skaters such as Evan Lysacek, Katia Gordeeva and Meryl Davis & Charlie White. “Dancing for Joy” was such a special, inter-connected show with a truly exceptional cast.
This charming and sharp musical is packed with humor, heart, and a great score. The icing on the cake were the expertly executed performances from a dazzlingly talented cast of three actors. We still reference “Missoula Montana” measurements and “Give me an Egg!”
We’ve listened to the CD and watched the DVD so many times during the Christmas season that we’ve lost count. If you can see this show live you’ll be treated to a joyful, worshipful Christmas program that is truly unforgettable.
We were completely astounded (all 3 of us) by Impossible! Happenstance Circus. No circus has ever been so spectacular and so poignant. From “Solid Potato Salad” to every death-defying feat, it was a feast for the eyes and the imagination.
Pumpkins, cute baby animals, photo ops and kettle corn- what’s not to love?
If baked goods were currency, Schmackary’s cookies would be made of platinum & gold and coated in fairy dust. These delicious cookies, brilliantly textured cookies that expertly stood up to shipping are a perfect gift for any sweets fan who can’t get to NYC in person. And if you’re in NYC have a cookie and think of us!
‘Twas that Night was delightful and the decorations and ambiance of the park so immersive that it was a true highlight of the holidays. We can’t wait to go back and experience more fun at Busch Gardens.
This elegant, emotional ice skating show was a perfect kick-off for the holiday season. From the amazing performances from Kimmie Mesiner, Brian Boitano, Caydee Denney & John Coughlin and others to the music performed by Train it was a treat to watch in person or at home. (We’ve watched it on our DVR at least 20 times.)
Oh, why couldn’t this have been more than just a miniseries? We could have watched seasons of this!
Delectable, scrumptious flavors of the South proliferate the menu and dance their way across your palate. Tupelo Honey has become our #datenight goals destination! The biscuits! Oh, the biscuits.
Nothing makes a new mommy start feel pulled together as fast as when she knows her hair looks great. Dina Sevajian at Dare to Dream Hair is fantastic and Kari still loves her cut and color!
Fresh made cake donuts, that are light enough to be mistaken for yeast donuts, topped with a variety of great things ranging from lemon and coconut to maple and bacon? Yes, please!
We’ve never seen more beautiful produce than our box from The Farm Table. Plus, now we know RJ loves asparagus and we both love Pink Lady apples.
The works of artists such as Van Gogh, Monet and Matisse are well known, but until you gaze upon their works in person you can’t truly appreciate their color and texture. The floral still life theme was an incredible framework for an exhibit and we adored the sketching area.
From the great music of the older kids to charming little kids we’re fans of The Willis Clan and we really enjoy watching The Willis Family.
They have everything dainty, lady-like spiced with a Southern Iced tea infusion of sass. Need I say more than mention the “Totes Y’all” tote bag?
Good music and a variety of great food make for a great afternoon, regardless of the weather.
Albanese makes the best gummy bears and gummy candies. Who knew that they could be so flavorful and have such a perfectly springy texture?
Why say it with flowers when you could say it with cupcakes? Plus, the flavors are so inventive and yummy!
