The Festival de Cannes (or Cannes Film Festival) is always an event that I look forward to because it forges two of my interests: film and fashion. While it’s always exciting to hear about the new movies, I always look forward to the fashion on display on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Since there are day and evening events, plus some events that are very casual and some that are very formal, you really get to see a wide variety of fashion in Cannes. Here are my picks for best-dressed ladies at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival:
Jessica Chastain in Chanel
Can you be any more business appropriate and fashionably fabulous than when you are in black Chanel tweed? The fit of this dress is perfect and I adore her sunglasses.
Vanessa Paradis in Chanel
This black and white look, also by Chanel represents a style that’s appropriate for more casual or creative business environments. The fit of these pieces are great and they are perfect for going out in the evening too. I love the pop of color from her beautiful pink heels.
(Seriously, I need to copy both of these outfits)
Julia Roberts in Giorgio Armani Prive with Chopard jewelry.
I’ve loved Julia since I was a little girl and she still looks fabulous. Beautifully tousled hair, a gloriously draped Armani gown, a fairytale sized emerald pendant combine for a look that sounds fairly basic but is pumped up with signature Julia Roberts charm with her megawatt smile and audacious bare feet. (Such a fashion scandal!)
Lottie Moss in Dior
This dramatic and vibrant red dress is stunning its cut and draping. I love the detail at the waist and the train is a perfect way to add drama to a simple gown.
Jourdan Dunn in Ralph & Russo Couture
This gown feels fresh and modern due to the high-low hem and unique floral detail. But the sweep of the enormous train and shapely bodice prove it’s no mere floral dress. Who doesn’t love a big ball gown with a big train? Her fantastic shoes by Paula Cadematori almost steal the show.
For me, the two queens of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival red carpet were Blake Lively and Kirsten Dunst.
Funky, flirty and fun in a Chanel mini with feathered and floral duster. (I love stripes, red, floral and feathers. This outfit is seriously a compilation of my favorite fashion things.)
Dreamy, retro-modern prom queen in aqua blue Vivienne Westwood Couture. Everything from the updo to the layered skirt to the beautiful brooch like details of this look screams, “I’m a princess.” And it’s true, Blake Lively is a red carpet/fashion princess.
Whether she was pristine and precious with Lily of the valley details by Dior Haute Couture…
resplendent in rose colored, beaded anemone adorned Gucci…..
or a vintage dream in a Dior Haute Couture shirtdress and my absolute favorite dress from the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. (Plus check out those gold Salvatore Ferragamo wedges.) Kirsten Dunst looked the part of being both a movie star and a great artist.
These looks are my favorites from the 2016 Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Who wore your favorite outfit?
