Since I just turned 35 this summer, I wondered if I was too old to appreciate the fashion on the 2016 Teen Choice Awards red carpet. Even though I was displeased by a lot of the fashion on display, I’m happy to say that I did find both some young ladies and several of my peers who rocked the red carpet and stayed classy. (Poor RJ couldn’t find any men’s outfits that he liked; step up your fashion game, men!) Here are my picks for best dressed at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards.
The menswear-inspired looks
Chelsea Kane in H&M
This two-piece striped ensemble looks comfortable and funky. Who says pinstripes are just for work?
Gina Rodriguez in Cielo Brands
What can I say? Girl can rock a ball gown and she looks great in a suit too. I love the oversized tie.
I’m not a big fan of jumpsuits, but this looks fun and her perfectly wavy hair keeps it feeling summery chic.
Proving that in real life, Barber is no Kimmie Gibbler this dress is classic, feminine and sweetly pastel for summer. Plus, her shoes are so fierce!
This striped sequin dress is so jazzy. Ridley’s new auburn bob is so cute too!
Maddie Ziegler in Christian Siriano
Maddie is a lovely young lady and Christian Siriano is a genius with both fit and color. The bright, yet soft colors and floral embroidery are just so lovely and perfect for summer.
UPDATE: Candace Cameron Bure actually responded to my tweet (Oh Mylanta!) thanking me and said this top and shorts (together it just looks like a romper) is by J. Mendel. I’m still excited that she responded to my tweet!)
Candace Cameron Bure
While Bure rocks another pair of fierce black strappy shows, the girls from Fuller House know shoes, her romper is one of my very favorite looks of the night. This classic black romper with metallic print and elbow sleeves makes me want a romper again. And I haven’t worn one since DJ Tanner was still worrying about her first kiss.
