Sadly, the 2016 Emmy Awards were awash in slits and cutouts and I was very discouraged by my first red carpet peeks. I was very happy to discover some lovely dresses that lifted the red carpet from its otherwise dismal and too fleshy displays. Check out my picks for best-dressed ladies at the 2016 Emmy Awards.
Maura Tierney in Christian Siriano
This flirty and classic cocktail dress is chic party perfection. Her updo and earrings provide the perfect accompaniments.
Constance Zimmer in Monique Lhuillier
I love the beautiful pink and white floral print. The details of this dress, from the cap sleeves to the train, are also lovely.
Emily Robinson in Carolina Herrera
This beautiful golden gown layered gown is perfect for the 2016 Emmy Awards not only for it’s color and sparkle, but also with it’s festive and retro design.
Yara Shahidi in Clara Rotescu
This gown proves that being chic and being modest can and do go hand in hand. This beautiful, dotted chiffon creation stands apart as elegant and fun in an evening full of immodest and unoriginal fashion. Her lovely hair, earrings and a radiant smile complete this look.
Jessica Seinfeld in Dior
Feathers? Check. Sparkles? Check. Perfectly fitted retro silhouette? Check. Skirt that makes you want to do dancing? Check. This stunning Dior look really has it all. Without even being a nominee, just by selecting the right ensemble, Jessica Seinfeld won the 2016 Emmy Awards for best dress!
The Emmy Awards are a fashion roll of the dice for menswear. Falling outside award season can mean that attendees just grab whatever black tux they have in the back of the closet, or it can mean they feel the freedom to make some bold choices. The 2016 Emmy Awards turned out to be a good year for bold color combinations and black and white plaid. Here are some of my favorites.
I love the white tie with this suit. It really makes him stand out.
This black and white plaid jacket with the contrasting black and whit bow tie is really sharp. I love how the two different designs play off of each other because of the same colors.
I’m a big fan of burgundy and black in my own wardrobe and in this look, Rico pulled it off really well. The fit is also impeccable.
Gaten Matazarro and Caleb McLaughlin
Everyone may be talking about their performance of “Uptown Funk” with their Stranger Things costar, but everyone is overlooking their increadibly great outfits. They fit great, and Gaten’s bow tie and vest and not overtaken by Calebs crazy awesome jacket. Both of them look great!
The leader of the house band for The Late Late Show killed with these crazy colors that at first glance are weird, then very intriguing.
Shiny purple is a dangerous look to try, but Brad pulls it off very well here.
