The 2018 SAG Awards were an evening that fused old-school holiday glamour (pailettes everywhere, for everyone!) and the new awakening recognition of women’s abuses. While there were less Time’s Up buttons and gowns blossomed from black into color we can hope that Hollywood will continue to wake up to respect and value women more. There were some great red carpet looks from many esteemed actresses. Here are my favorites from the 2018 SAG Awards red carpet!
Dakota Fanning in Prada
This gown is peachy-keen peach, perfectly shaped and I love the rhinestone trim.
Nicole Kidman in Armani Prive
Of all the pailette gown from the red carpet, and there were a lot, this fitted bronze gown was my favorite.
Madeline Brewer in Reem Acra
I love the shape and the beautiful ballet pink color. And the pearls really put it over the top for fabulously adorable and super-retro. Can’t you just picture Lucille Ball wearing this dress?
Zoe Kazan in Miu Miu
The cut of this gown is lovely and I love the 1970’s feel floral pattern.
Yara Ashidi in Ralph Lauren Collection
I’m not always a big fan of jupsuits, but this one is fantastic. The sculpted shape, complimented with the bow and train, plus Yara’s beautiful hair make this look dramatic and chic.
Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen
Green with envy over this dress? It certainly is lovely enough to make Scarlett O’Hara cast aside her green gown. The sumptuous fabric coupled with the feminine neckline makes this the perfect dress for a modern Southern woman like Reese.
Lupita Nyong’o Ralph & Russo Couture
There were lots of feathers on the red carpet last night, but this gown showed them off perfectly. The beautiful gunmetal gown gets a perfect dash of oomph from the spiky yet soft black feathers.
Jackie Tohn in Sachin & Babi
I can’t decide which I love more about this dress- the stripes or that magnificent bow! This dress has drama, excellent use of color and that bow is dreamy. Her soft makeup and hair provide the perfect accents for this bold gown.
Taryn Manning in Adrianna Pappell
While it’s true that I adore the shape, the fit and the high-low hem (with a train) and I think this ensemble is perfectly styled with the contrasting white shoes and silver rings, the thing I love most about it is that it’s from Macy’s. You could be a real woman like me and go and buy this dress. I LOVE that!
The 2018 SAG Awards definitely surprised me with how much fashion experimentation was on display. There was much that was well done and outside the box at this event. It was a good night for designs on coats, and flowers. Here are some of my favorite outfits.
I love the design on this jacket, and the flower pin really sets his lapel off nicely. The shoes are also awesome. Red is a really striking accent color for him.
My attention keeps going back to the different color of his lapel. It’s a great contrast that I’ve never seen on the red carpet before. The shirt has a unique feel to it as well with the line running down the front of it.
Justin Hartley in Ermenegildo Zegna Couture
All black and a great fit are two things that I adore seeing on the red carpet of any event.
His jacket has a handsome design on it that is picked up again by the flower pin on his lapel. I love it.
Sterling K. Brown
Congratulations sir, you win best fitting tux of the night.
This young man took the flower game up a notch by making it his beck tie!
The blue design on this tux is really eye-catching. The black tie and shirt were a great pairing as well.
